Tackle Meeting

Today I met with and had a fantastic talk with Tom Coots, the new owner of REDTOP Sporting Goods, on Main Street, in Buzzards Bay; and we talked about a customer appreciation program for club members.

Tom is an avid freshwater fisherman, and although REDTOP has been know as a premier saltwater tackle shop, Tom wants to open his doors to invite more freshwater anglers in, and to help him stock his store with the type of supplies a freshwater angler will need.

The program would work as follows …… each member would supply Tom with their name and address for him to put in his computer, then whenever you make a purchase, you would automatically receive a discount, and in the early spring … the club members would get together and place a larger club order of similar tackle and get another discount. Another perk would be …. If you buy a rod from REDTOP, you would not only get your discount, you would get the REDTOP guarantee above and beyond the manufacturers warrantee, which would cover breakage and or replacement of the rod.

I’ve invited Tom to our Awards Banquet, at which time he can discuss the program and answer any questions you may have.

The latest information I’ve gotten about lead free tackle is this ---- In 2012 the Environmental Police have taken it easy on anglers in regard to lead free tackle law,

BUT in 2013 they are going to crack down hard on this law…… so be aware, if you are fined for HAVING ANY improper lead tackle ( lead jigs and sinkers less then 1 oz. ) it is your responsibility NOT the clubs.
